Mumbai: Satish Salian, father of late celebrity manager Disha Salian, is set to approach the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with what he and his lawyer describe as important evidence concerning the circumstances of her death.
Salian, accompanied by his lawyer Nilesh Ojha, is expected to submit a pen drive at the CBI office in Mumbai on Thursday. Ojha said the material includes video recordings, witness accounts and digital evidence that they want investigators to examine.
Pen Drive, Videos and Witness Accounts
Ojha has claimed that the material includes recordings involving witnesses and information that could help investigators reconstruct events surrounding Salian’s death. He has also raised questions over alleged inconsistencies between different accounts and other records connected with the case.
Satish Salian said the material being presented to investigators includes videos, photographs and records of conversations. The claims about what this material establishes remain allegations and will require examination by the CBI; they have not been established by a court.
The latest development follows the Bombay High Court’s September 2 direction to the CBI to investigate the circumstances surrounding Disha Salian’s death. The court directed the agency to appoint an investigating officer, record her father’s statement and register an FIR.
The CBI subsequently recorded Satish Salian’s statement as part of the fresh investigation.
Ojha has sought prompt action after the material is formally handed over and has called for relevant persons to be questioned. Whether the material warrants questioning, arrests or other investigative steps will be for the CBI to determine.
The case has also become entangled in a legal dispute between Satish Salian and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray. Thackeray’s legal counsel has rejected the allegations, maintaining that Thackeray neither knew nor met Disha Salian and that there is no evidence supporting the accusations against him. His counsel has said the investigation should proceed and establish the facts.
Disha Salian, who worked as a celebrity manager, died in Mumbai in June 2020. The renewed CBI investigation comes more than six years after her death and is now expected to examine the material submitted by her father alongside the evidence and records already available to investigators.
