Earlier she was a heroine in India, now in the race for Canada PM… Know who is Ruby Dhalla

After Justin Trudeau’s resignation, the race for the new Prime Minister has begun in Canada. Indian-origin Ruby Dhalla’s name is also included in this race. She officially launched her candidacy to succeed Justin Trudeau as the leader of the Liberal Party, a role that could lead to the post of Prime Minister if the party wins the next federal election.

Who is Ruby Dhalla?
Ruby Dhalla was born on 18 February 1974 in an immigrant Punjabi family settled in Winnipeg city, about 2000 kilometers away from Canada’s capital Ottawa.

50-year-old Ruby Dhalla is a self-employed businesswoman, doctor and a famous three-time MP in Canada. Ruby Dhalla also serves as the CEO and Chairperson of the Dhalla Group of Companies.

If she becomes the Prime Minister, she will be the first black woman Prime Minister of Canada. She has raised the issue of ever-increasing housing cost, crime rate, food prices and threats of tariffs from America.

Ruby Dhalla, who was a Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2011, says she wants to restore Canada’s reputation at the international level.

Recently, Ruby Dhalla made headlines with a statement in which she said that if elected, she will deport illegal immigrants from the country. This promise has put immigration at the center of her campaign and has generated both support and controversy.

Ruby Dhalla has so many degrees
If we talk about Ruby Dhalla’s education, she completed her university studies on scholarship from McMaster University, Canada.

She then took admission to the University of Winnipeg and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry in 1995, with a minor in Political Science.

Ruby Dhalla was selected as a Rhodes Scholarship nominee for Manitoba in 1995.

Dhalla then moved to Toronto, where she earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1999

Before entering politics, Ruby Dhalla worked as a chiropractor. Chiropractic is a method of treating problems related to bones, muscles, and joints.

Bollywood heroine
Ruby Dhalla also tried her hand at acting, she worked as a heroine in the Bollywood inspired film ‘Kyon? Kis Liye?’ This film, directed by Vinod Talwar, was released in the year 2003, in which Ruby Dhalla was seen along with Jason Crut and Chico Sihra.

Ruby Dhalla of Indian origin was the runner up in the Miss India-Canada contest in 1993.
