In the liquor scam case, the Enforcement Directorate has raided the house of Chaitanya, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Bhupesh Baghel himself gave this information on ‘X’. He wrote, ‘ED has arrived. Today is the last day of the assembly session. The issue of trees being cut in Tamnar for Adani was to be raised today. Saheb has sent ED to Bhilai residence.’

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday July 18, 2025 raided the premises of Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The action was taken in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to the alleged liquor scam. Officials said that the ED is searching Chaitanya Baghel’s house in Bhilai city, where he lives with his father, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after getting new evidence in the case.

Bhupesh Baghel posted a message on ‘X’
The federal investigation agency had conducted raids against Chaitanya Baghel in March this year. Senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel posted a message on ‘X’ regarding the latest raid. The post said that the ED has reached his Bhilai residence on the last day of the assembly session.

Suspected of receiving criminal proceeds
The ED had earlier said that Chaitanya Baghel is suspected of receiving criminal proceeds of the alleged liquor scam. It was reported that the Chhattisgarh liquor scam caused huge losses to the state exchequer. More than Rs 2,100 crore of the proceeds from this crime went into the pockets of the beneficiaries of the liquor syndicate.
