Students raise questions on education, healthcare, employment, tourism, sports, governance and the State’s development vision
Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday August 2, 2026 interacted with NEET-2026 qualifiers from Prayas Residential Schools during a special programme held at the Chief Minister’s Residence Office in Raipur, where students from across Chhattisgarh engaged with him on education, healthcare, sports, tourism, employment, governance and the vision for a developed Chhattisgarh.
During the interaction, the students asked questions on education, medical careers, employment, sports, tourism, politics, good governance, drug abuse and the future of Chhattisgarh.

Welcoming the students, Sai said their success was particularly significant because many of them belonged to poor, tribal and geographically remote communities.
“Your achievement is a matter of pride for the entire State. It reflects your hard work, your teachers’ dedication and the blessings and sacrifices of your parents,” the Chief Minister said.
He informed the gathering that 17 Prayas Residential Schools are currently operating across Chhattisgarh to provide quality education and competitive examination preparation to talented students from tribal and economically weaker families.
‘Become compassionate doctors, not merely qualified professionals’
Addressing the students as future doctors, Sai said medical knowledge must always be accompanied by sensitivity and humane behaviour.
“God gives life, while doctors save lives. You must become not only skilled doctors but also compassionate, practical and approachable human beings,” he told the students.
The Chief Minister said respectful and reassuring behaviour towards patients could itself become an important part of treatment.
“A doctor’s kind words and conduct can give confidence to a patient. Consider service to society, Chhattisgarh and the nation as your highest responsibility,” he added.
Five new medical colleges to add 250 MBBS seats
Highlighting the expansion of medical education, Sai said Chhattisgarh had only one medical college when the State was formed, while 15 government and private medical colleges are now functioning.

“The State Government is establishing five additional medical colleges, which will create 250 more MBBS seats and expand opportunities for students aspiring to enter the medical profession,” he said.
The Chief Minister also said that 34 new Nalanda campuses were under construction across district headquarters and major cities. These centres would provide online and offline study resources around the clock to students preparing for competitive examinations.
Seats at the Tribal Youth Hostel in Delhi have also been increased from 50 to 200, with free food and accommodation. Sai said 13 students from the hostel had cleared the UPSC Preliminary Examination this year.
No talented student should be denied education
Responding to a question from Nelsa, a student of Prayas Residential School, Jagdalpur, Sai said the government was expanding scholarships, residential education and competitive examination facilities.
“The government’s endeavour is to ensure that a shortage of resources never becomes an obstacle in the education of a talented student,” he said.
He added that the State Government bears the entire cost when children from registered labour families qualify to pursue studies abroad.
Government schools being strengthened
Answering a question from Yamini Paikra of Ambikapur, the Chief Minister said employment-oriented courses were being introduced under the new education policy.
Smart classrooms, renovation of schools, regular teacher training and parent-teacher meetings were also being expanded.
“Our government schools are being developed at par with private institutions. I am confident that, in the coming years, government schools will perform even better than private schools,” Sai said.
Youth free from addiction can build a healthy nation
The Chief Minister also referred to the nationwide ‘Drug-Free Youth, Developed India Pledge Campaign’, saying that addiction harms the body, mind, family and society.
“A healthy Chhattisgarh and a healthy India can be built only when our youth remain disciplined, hardworking, cultured and free from addiction,” he said.

Sai urged the students not only to remain away from intoxicants themselves but also to spread awareness among their friends, families and communities.
Politics is also a means of public service
Responding to Dileshwari Sahu of Jagdalpur, who asked about the participation of young people in politics and administration, Sai said no profession should be viewed as small or insignificant.
“Young people should choose a field according to their dreams—whether medicine, agriculture, business, administration or politics—but honesty, values and commitment to duty must always remain supreme,” he said.
The Chief Minister described politics as an effective means of public service and said service and responsibility were complementary to each other.
Tourism to open new employment avenues in Bastar
Replying to Sameer Karketta of Surguja, Sai highlighted the tourism potential of Bastar and Surguja, referring to destinations such as Chitrakote, Tirathgarh, Ranidah and Abujhmad.
He said the State’s new industrial policy gives special priority to tourism, while tribal families are being supported through homestay initiatives.
“With the end of Naxal violence, Bastar is entering an era of peace and development. Tourism can generate lakhs of livelihood and employment opportunities in the region,” the Chief Minister said.
Chhattisgarh’s resources to drive future growth
Answering Hemant Yadav of Mahasamund, Sai said Chhattisgarh’s central location, mineral resources, power generation capacity and agricultural potential placed it in a strong position for future growth.
He highlighted proposed investments in energy, irrigation, livestock development, fisheries, food processing, cold storage and value-added industries.
“Chhattisgarh has immense natural and human potential. With planned investment and opportunities for farmers, women, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, the State will emerge among the country’s leading States,” he said.
Sports infrastructure and incentives expanded
Responding to a question from Komal Patel of Surguja, Sai referred to Commonwealth Games silver medallist Dnyaneshwari Yadav and said young athletes from the State were bringing honour to the country.
He said a sports complex costing ₹67 crore and an archery academy costing ₹60 crore were being developed in Jashpur.
Under the State Sports Policy, an Olympic gold medallist will receive ₹3 crore, a silver medallist ₹2 crore, and a bronze medallist ₹1 crore. Athletes representing India at the Olympics will receive ₹21 lakh.
Chief Minister shares his personal struggle
Responding to Prachi Malgame of Rajnandgaon, Sai recalled losing his father at the age of ten and taking responsibility for his family.
“I had never predetermined that I would enter politics. Whatever responsibility came before me, I performed it with honesty and dedication,” he said.
Encouraging the students, he added:
“No work is small. Whatever responsibility you accept, perform it with complete sincerity and commitment.”
Technology to strengthen citizen-centric governance
The Chief Minister informed students that citizens could now register grievances and suggestions directly through CM Helpline 1076. Nearly 8,000 officials have been connected to the system for complaint resolution.
He also said a Chief Minister’s Dashboard was being developed to enable real-time monitoring of schools, hospitals, teacher attendance, ration availability and other public services.
“Good governance, transparency and technology-based administration will ensure that better public services reach every citizen of Chhattisgarh,” Sai said.
