Raipur: According to data from the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2025—released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India—Chhattisgarh’s unemployment rate has been recorded at 2.3 percent, significantly lower than the national average.

This figure reflects the strength of the state’s rural economy, its employment-oriented policies, and the effectiveness of its public welfare schemes.

The State Government’s priority has not merely been to provide employment, but rather to connect people with dignified livelihoods, sustainable incomes, and self-reliance.

This is precisely why economic activities centered on agriculture, forest produce, self-employment, and small-scale enterprises have consistently bolstered employment opportunities within the state.

By positioning agriculture and allied sectors as the linchpin of economic growth, extensive efforts have been undertaken to provide livelihoods to farmers, rural residents, and communities living in forest-rich regions.

Initiatives such as the procurement of forest produce at Minimum Support Price (MSP), the promotion of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in rural areas, the expansion of small and cottage industries, skill development programs, and schemes for local-level job creation have played a pivotal role in the economic empowerment of youth and women.

Through the various schemes implemented by the State Government, the scope of economic activities in villages has expanded; this has not only led to a decline in rural-to-urban migration but has also generated increased opportunities for both wage employment and self-employment at the local level.

The State Government firmly believes that merely reducing unemployment figures is not sufficient; rather, it is far more critical to provide the youth with superior opportunities that align with their specific capabilities and skill sets. In consonance with this philosophy, special emphasis is being placed on skill upgradation, entrepreneurship development, job-oriented training, and investment-driven industrial expansion.

The positive outcomes of the new industrial policy are now becoming tangible on the ground, as new industries are being continuously established across the state, thereby creating fresh employment avenues for the youth.

The government is working with the overarching objective of ensuring that the benefits of development reach the very last person, while simultaneously maintaining a harmonious balance between the rural and urban economies.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has stated that the State Government is committed to empowering every youth, farmer, woman, and laborer in Chhattisgarh to move forward with self-confidence, dignity, and self-reliance.

He noted that new opportunities for development and employment are being continuously expanded across the state to ensure that the benefits of economic progress reach every section of society.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that, through pro-people schemes, good governance, and employment-oriented policies, Chhattisgarh will further strengthen its robust identity as one of the country’s leading developing states in the times to come.
