Chhattisgarh Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap today made a courtesy call on Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oraon during his one-day stay in Delhi. They had a meaningful discussion on various tribal issues of the state. Mr. Kashyap apprised him of various welfare schemes being run in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai. He informed that the government is committed to the protection and upliftment of the tribes in the state.
Forest Minister Kashyap informed Union Minister Jual Oraon that under the Minimum Support Price Scheme, Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Federation Limited Raipur on behalf of the Chhattisgarh Government has been purchasing minor forest produce from about 6.5 lakh tribal families since the year 2014-15. He said that the state of Chhattisgarh has suffered a loss of Rs 52.18 crore in the said trade during the period from 2014-15 to 2019-20. Shri Kashyap requested for immediate provision of compensation amount of 75 per cent of the loss i.e. Rs. 39.14 crore and additional working capital of Rs. 200 crore for smooth arrangement of purchasing minor forest produce at support price.
