Chhattisgarh Chief Minister pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Chhattisgarh Sadan in New Delhi

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries, saying their ideals of truth, non-violence, simplicity and service would continue to inspire the country.

Sai offered flowers before portraits of the two national leaders at Chhattisgarh Sadan in New Delhi on October 2.

Remembering Mahatma Gandhi, the Chief Minister said his commitment to truth, non-violence and humanity had carried a message of peace and harmony far beyond India.

“Mahatma Gandhi, by following the path of truth, non-violence and humanity, gave the entire world a message of peace and harmony,” Sai said.

He said Gandhi’s philosophy placed the welfare of the last person in society at its heart and embodied the spirit of a self-reliant India. Gandhi’s life, he added, continues to inspire people to remain steadfast on the path of truth while fulfilling their responsibilities towards society and the nation.

Paying tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri, Sai recalled the former Prime Minister’s simplicity, determined leadership and commitment to national service.

“His simple life, firm leadership and dedication to the nation remain a source of inspiration for every Indian,” the Chief Minister said.

Sai also recalled Shastri’s enduring call of “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan”, saying it highlighted the invaluable contribution made by soldiers and farmers to the country’s security and prosperity.

Drawing together the legacies of the two leaders, the Chief Minister said their lives and ideals continued to provide direction for public welfare, good governance and service to the nation.

“The lives and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri will continue to inspire us to move forward on the path of public welfare, good governance and national service,” Sai said.
