Principal of Lohrakot College and Four Assistant Professors of Pithora College Suspended
Raipur: The Higher Education Department of the Chhattisgarh government has taken strict action against the Principal of Government College Lohrakot in Mahasamund district and four assistant professors of Pithora College, suspending them with immediate effect for serious financial irregularities related to the purchase of materials.
According to the order issued, Principal Dr. S.S. Tiwari has been found prima facie guilty of misappropriation of funds allocated under the PM-Usha scheme and violation of financial rules. Similarly, in Pithora College, the purchase made through the GeM portal during the midday program using funds received under the PM-Usha scheme did not comply with the provisions of the Chhattisgarh Stores Purchase Rules, 2002 and its 2025 amendment.
The preliminary inquiry found this act to be a violation of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965.
The suspended assistant professors include Dr. Seema Agrawal, Dr. Brihaspati Singh Vishal, Pithi Singh Thakur, and Dr. S.S. Diwan, all from Government College Pithora.
This action has been taken under Rule 9(1)(a) of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1966.
During the suspension period, their headquarters have been fixed at the office of the Regional Additional Director, Higher Education, Raipur. They will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules.
Departmental inquiry proceedings will be conducted separately in this matter. This order has been issued by the Under Secretary of the Higher Education Department in the name of the Governor of Chhattisgarh. This action by the government is considered a significant step towards ensuring transparency, accountability, and financial discipline in government institutions.
