A Grand Confluence of Humanity in Raipur: Youth from Across the State to Gather Under the Governor’s Patronage
Over 2,000 Participants to Arrive Bearing Messages of Service, Blood Donation, and Organ Donation
Raipur: On the occasion of World Red Cross Day, the Indian Red Cross Society (Chhattisgarh State Branch) is organising a historic state-level program today in the capital city, Raipur. Held under the patronage and guidance of the Governor—who also serves as the President of the Red Cross Society—and Ramen Deka, this program will serve as a medium to convey the pledge that “Service to Humanity is the Highest Service” to every citizen.
The state-level program will commence on May 8, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium, located within the Government Medical College campus.
The event will be inaugurated by the Chief Guest, O.P. Choudhary, the Finance Minister of Chhattisgarh. The program will be presided over by the Honorable Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Shyam Bihari Jaiswal. The Minister for Higher Education, Tank Ram Verma, and Rajya Sabha MP Lakshmi Verma will be present as Guests of Honor.
Awareness to be Spread Through Cultural Competitions
Program Coordinator Dr. Rupal Purohit stated that over 2,000 students, volunteers, and social workers from various districts across the state are participating in this event. The principles of the Red Cross will be showcased through various art and cultural activities, including group dances, plays, skits, and painting competitions. Creative presentations will be delivered on themes such as blood donation, organ donation, de-addiction, women’s health, first aid, and disaster management.
Honors and Award Distribution
On May 8, 2026, at 4:30 PM, the award distribution ceremony will take place, with the Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Dr. Raman Singh, serving as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony will be presided over by the School Education Minister, Gajendra Yadav. During the ceremony, volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to social service, as well as the winners of the various competitions, will be honored. Unwavering Commitment to Humanity
The Society’s Chairman, Toman Sahu; Vice Chairman, Mr. Rupesh Kumar Panigrahi; and Treasurer, Sanjay Patel, stated that the Red Cross is not merely an organisation, but a global symbol of compassion and service.
This event will infuse the youth of Chhattisgarh with renewed energy to make active contributions towards the welfare of society.
