Raipur: The 9th edition of ‘The Great Chhattisgarh Run’ was organised on Sunday November 10, 2024 as a wonderful celebration of health, endurance and unity. Manish Kumar Sahu in the 10 km race, Mohit Bisen in the 21 km race and Suresh Kumar Sahu in the 42 km race came first. In the women’s 42 km race, IFS Satovisha Samajdar secured a place on the podium.
More than 5000 people participated enthusiastically in this marathon sponsored by eblu and organised by Let’s Run. This is Chhattisgarh’s only marathon with RFID timer. Chief guest IAS Ankit Anand and IAS Dr. Bharatidasan started the marathon by hoisting the flag. Special guests Dr. Sarveshwar Bhure and Vivek Dhandh were also present in the program.
Showcasing Chhattisgarh’s health and environmental awareness, this year’s marathon had a special theme of ‘Millets’. Millets were incorporated in every aspect so that participants and spectators could experience the importance of this nutritious grain.
The Great Chhattisgarh Run, Central India’s first 42 km certified race, is creating a new identity in Indian athletics, which is recognized by the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) and Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). Race directors Dr. Vinay Tiwari and Sunil Agarwal have made a special contribution in taking the event to new heights.
Dr. Tiwari said that the organization of The Great Chhattisgarh Run is taking a grand form every year. Which shows the commitment and enthusiasm of our community. This year, the winners in four categories of 6 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km were given prize money of Rs 3.51 lakh. This is the only marathon in Chhattisgarh with an RFID timer, which inspired new and experienced runners to reach their goal.
