Livelihood ponds will promote fish farming, irrigation facilities, cultivation of pulses and oilseeds, and horticultural activities
Raipur: An awareness program was organised on Monday January 19, 2026 in Karmari Gram Panchayat of Mohla Manpur Ambagarh Chowki district, a tribal-dominated and agriculture-based livelihood district, under the VB-G RAM Ji (Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission – Rural) scheme.

During this program, villagers formed a human chain to convey the message of ‘Self-Reliant Village – Developed India’. The enthusiasm and community participation towards the scheme were clearly visible.
Under the program, convergence-based livelihood ponds, such as those for agriculture and fish farming, were inspected.
These works are being carried out according to the work plan prepared in coordination with the Agriculture Department, Horticulture Department, CREDA, and Forest Department. These livelihood ponds will promote fish farming, irrigation facilities, cultivation of pulses and oilseeds, and horticultural activities. This will provide tribal and marginal farmers with sustainable livelihoods, food security, and opportunities for additional income.
On this occasion, District Panchayat President Namrata Singh highlighted the objectives of the VB-G RAM Ji scheme, local employment generation, and the importance of the convergence model. She said that the success of any scheme is not possible without active participation, transparency, and community ownership at the village level, and VB-G RAM Ji is based on these fundamental principles.
During the program, fishing nets were distributed to beneficiaries Vinod Kumar and Dalpat Sai Mehru Ram. This will encourage fish farming activities and increase enthusiasm for self-employment among the villagers.
The beneficiaries said that through the support received from the scheme, they will cultivate pulses and oilseeds along with fish farming, which will continuously increase their income and strengthen their family’s economic condition.
The villagers described the VB-G RAM Ji scheme as an important initiative towards all-round development and self-reliance for the tribal-dominated, agriculture-based district.
The program concluded with the resolution that India will only become developed when its villages become self-reliant.
The program was attended by District Panchayat CEO . Bharti Chandrakar, public representative Dilip Verma, panchayat representatives, officers and employees from various departments, and a large number of villagers.
