The first day of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne is over. Australia, who won the toss and elected to bat first, have scored 311 runs in their first innings, losing six wickets. Steve Smith is unbeaten on 68 runs and captain Pat Cummins is unbeaten on eight runs. The first day was a close contest. While the first session was in Australia’s favour, the second session saw strong rivalry between Australia and India. India completely dominated the third session.

Australia scored 112 runs in the first session
Australia scored 112 runs in 25 overs in the first session on Thursday at a run rate of 4.48 and lost only one wicket. 112 runs are the highest runs scored in the first session on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test. Earlier also this record was in the name of Australia. They had scored 111 runs without losing a wicket against India in 2007. A good fight was seen between the two in the second session. During this, Australia added 64 more runs in 28 overs at a run rate of 2.29. Australia also lost one wicket in this session. Usman Khawaja was out in the second session. In the third session, Jasprit Bumrah brought India back and sent Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh to the pavilion. One change in both teams, Gill out
For this match, one change was made in both teams. Australia replaced Josh Hazlewood with Scott Boland and India replaced Shubman Gill with Washington Sundar. The Kangaroos had a good start and 19-year-old debutant Sam Constas shared an 89-run partnership for the first wicket with Usman Khawaja. Constas batted aggressively in his debut match and targeted Bumrah. He scored a half-century. However, after this he was out LBW on Ravindra Jadeja’s ball. Constas was out after scoring 60 runs in 65 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes.

Labuschagne scored the highest 72 runs
After this, Khawaja shared a 65-run partnership for the second wicket with Steve Smith. Khawaja scored the 27th half-century of his Test career. He was dismissed by Bumrah after scoring 57 runs with the help of six fours in 121 balls. At the same time, Head could not open the account. He was clean bowled by Bumrah. Bumrah then dismissed Mitchell Marsh cheaply. He could score only four runs. Labuschagne scored 72 runs with the help of seven fours in 145 balls. This was the 22nd half-century of his Test career. At the same time, Smith has batted brilliantly so far. He has hit five fours and a six in his unbeaten innings of 68 runs off 111 balls. Bumrah took three wickets for India. At the same time, Akash Deep, Jadeja and Sundar got one wicket each.
