Rubal Naghi, the winner of the Global Teacher Prize 2026, is currently making headlines. She has won this award by surpassing teachers from all over the world through her exceptional work.
These days, the name of an Indian woman teacher, Rubal Naghi, is making headlines, and for a very good reason. She has not only brought glory to herself but also to India. She has been awarded the Global Teacher Prize 2026. By teaching underprivileged children in a unique way, she has become a global sensation. As a result, she was honored with a global prize of $1 million (9 crore rupees) at an international conference held in Dubai.
Regarding her journey, Rubal said that her journey began 27 years ago when, during an art workshop, she met a child who had never seen a pencil in his life. After winning the prize money, Rubal said that she would use the money to start an institution where children who have never been to school would be educated.
Who is Rubal Naghi?
Rubal Naghi is the daughter of retired Colonel Gyan Singh Sudan. After marriage, she shifted to Mumbai. For the Global Teacher Prize 2026, approximately 5,000 nominations and applications were received from 139 countries worldwide. Rubal Naghi’s selection from among them is considered a great achievement for India.
After winning the award, Rubal Naghi received an emotional video from Karnah village in Tangdhar district of Kashmir, near the Line of Control (LOC). In this video, a child studying at her computer center is seen congratulating her, which deeply moved Rubal Naghi.
A Very Special Journey
Every year, leaders and experts from around the world participate in this event held in Dubai, where Rubal represented India. 24 years ago, Rubal started a workshop with 30 children. Now, Rubal runs more than 800 such training centers in India, where millions of children are receiving education. Rubal Naghi runs an organization called the Rubal Naghi Art Foundation, which works to connect underprivileged children in the country with mainstream education.
