International Day of Older Persons: State-Level Event to be Held in Raipur on October 1

Raipur: As part of Seva Pakhwada 2025, a state-level programme marking the International Day of Older Persons will be organised on October 1 at 11 AM at the Krishi Mandapam in the College of Agriculture campus, Jora, Raipur.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will be present on the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event will be presided over by Minister for Social Welfare and Women & Child Development, Laxmi Rajwade.

Distinguished guests at the programme will include Chhattisgarh Ministers Kedar Kashyap, Tankram Verma and Guru Khushwant Saheb; MP Brijmohan Agrawal; MLAs Rajesh Munat, i Purandar Mishra, Sunil Soni, Motilal Sahu, Indra Kumar Sahu and Anuj Sharma; along with Mayor Meenal Choubey and other public representatives.

The state-level event will feature special initiatives dedicated to honouring senior citizens, strengthening their welfare, health, social security, and encouraging their active role in society. Cultural performances, experience-sharing sessions, health check-up camps, and motivational talks will also be part of the programme.

Organised by the District Administration and the Department of Social Welfare, the programme aims to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of senior citizens, felicitate them for their role in different spheres of life, and promote greater social participation. On this occasion, senior citizens will be honoured for their contributions, and awareness about their rights and welfare will be highlighted. The dignitaries present will also share information on the latest government schemes and initiatives for senior citizen welfare, ensuring direct benefits reach the elderly.
