Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the Mahanadi is not merely a source of water but a lifeline closely connected with the lives, agriculture, culture and prosperity of the people of both Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
A high-level meeting on better management of Mahanadi waters and finding a solution consistent with the interests of both States was held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, in the presence of Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also participated in the meeting.
CM Sai said the collective effort is to ensure better management of Mahanadi waters so that irrigation facilities in both States can be further strengthened and opportunities for new development projects can be created.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the guidance of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, the governments of Chhattisgarh and Odisha are moving towards a solution through mutual dialogue, cooperation and a scientific approach.
