Raipur: Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka has called upon social media influencers to take Bastar’s changing story beyond the State and present its development, people and tourism potential to audiences across India and abroad.

The Governor was interacting on Thursday, October 1, with a group of 41 social media influencers from Delhi who are touring Chhattisgarh under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. The group visited Bastar before meeting the Governor and shared its experiences of travelling through the region and interacting with local communities.

Deka said development initiatives in health, education, connectivity and skill training were expanding opportunities in Bastar. He said increasing employment opportunities would further accelerate development and help government schemes reach people at the grassroots.

Three Days on the Ground in Bastar

The influencers told the Governor that they had spent three days in Bastar, interacting with villagers and visiting areas and settlements that had earlier been affected by Naxal violence.

According to the account shared during the interaction, members of the group said their visit allowed them to see conditions on the ground rather than forming impressions solely from what they had previously encountered through media coverage. They spoke about improved road connectivity, rehabilitation efforts and initiatives aimed at creating employment opportunities.

The visitors also highlighted Bastar’s natural landscape and said they experienced a sense of peace during their stay. They said the changes they encountered were greater than they had anticipated and expressed their intention to share those experiences through their respective digital platforms.

The influencers said such first-hand accounts could help audiences develop a broader understanding of present-day Bastar and could also encourage more travellers to explore the region.

“Take the Changes to the Country and the World”

Governor Deka said social media creators could play an important role in communicating developments taking place in Bastar to a much wider audience.

He also referred to changes in education, saying children who earlier remained outside the school system were increasingly attending classes. Development programmes, including rural road connectivity initiatives, were helping link villages with better facilities, he said.

Work is also being undertaken for the development of Bastar’s towns and tourist destinations, according to the Governor. He linked the expansion of employment opportunities with the region’s longer-term development prospects.

Influencers Have Combined Reach of Over Five Crore

Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Managing Director Soumil Ranjan Chaubey said 41 social media influencers from Delhi had arrived in the State and that their digital platforms collectively connect with more than five crore people.

He said the visitors had observed development work and changes in areas that had experienced Naxal violence and would now share their first-hand experiences through social media.

The initiative also places tourism at the centre of the effort to introduce a wider audience to Bastar — a region known for its forests, waterfalls, tribal culture, caves and distinctive traditions.

Governor’s Secretary Dr C.R. Prasanna and other officials were present during the interaction
