Raipur : Reaffirming the Chhattisgarh government’s commitment to women’s economic empowerment, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday July 11, 2026 released the 29th installment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, transferring ₹626.25 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 6.6 million women beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
The funds were released from the Chief Minister’s official residence in Raipur in the presence of Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade. With this latest installment, the cumulative amount transferred under the scheme has reached ₹18,805.83 crore across 29 monthly installments, making it one of the largest direct financial assistance programmes for women in the state.
Women at the Centre of Chhattisgarh’s Growth Story
Addressing the beneficiaries, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has evolved into a new identity of dignity, self-reliance, and financial independence for women across Chhattisgarh.
He emphasised that the state government remains committed to increasing women’s participation in the economy by providing regular financial support that enables them to become self-sufficient and confident contributors to household and community development.
“The scheme is no longer merely a financial assistance programme. It has become a catalyst for social and economic transformation,” the Chief Minister said.
Transforming Lives Beyond Financial Assistance
Highlighting the impact of the initiative, the Chief Minister noted that during his visits to various districts, women have personally shared stories of how the monthly assistance has changed their lives.
According to him, many beneficiaries have used the funds to:
- Launch small businesses and self-employment ventures.
- Purchase sewing machines and begin tailoring work.
- Support children’s education and healthcare.
- Meet household expenses with greater financial stability.
- Improve nutrition and family welfare.
These success stories, he said, demonstrate the scheme’s long-term social impact and its role in strengthening women’s decision-making power within families.
Linked with ‘Lakhpati Didi’ Mission
Chief Minister Sai also underlined that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana complements other women-centric initiatives, including the Lakhpati Didi programme, aimed at increasing women’s incomes through entrepreneurship, skill development, and livelihood opportunities.
He directed officials to expedite the e-KYC verification process to ensure that every eligible woman receives the benefits without delay. Special emphasis was laid on achieving 100 percent coverage in the Bastar division, where the process has been prioritised.
