Raipur: Chhattisgarh State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has approved significant amendments to the State’s Industrial Development Policy 2024–30. These revisions aim to make the policy more competitive, transparent, and investment-friendly compared to other states, thereby strengthening prospects for industrial growth, expansion of the service sector, and the creation of new employment opportunities.

The primary objective of the Cabinet’s decision is to ensure sustainable and quality employment for the domiciles of the state. In this direction, new provisions have been introduced relating to Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) reimbursement and employment generation incentives. Under the revised policy, MSME units in special sectors such as pharmaceuticals, textiles, food processing, electronics, artificial intelligence, and information technology that generate employment for more than 50 persons will also be eligible for wage-linked incentives for employing local residents of Chhattisgarh.

Expanding the scope of the service sector, the Cabinet has also included computer-based testing infrastructure, e-commerce and app-based aggregators, and NABL-accredited diagnostic laboratories under the policy framework. These institutions will now be eligible for incentives and benefits as prescribed under the Industrial Development Policy.

To accelerate growth in tourism and healthcare infrastructure, incentive-based amendments have been approved for the establishment of five-star hotels in Raipur, Durg, and Bilaspur, and three-star hotels in other districts. Similarly, the policy also promotes the establishment of large private multi-speciality hospitals across the state.

In a major step towards enhancing the quality of higher education, the Cabinet has decided that institutions ranked among the top 100 in the NIRF rankings will be eligible for special incentives if they establish campuses in Chhattisgarh. This is expected to encourage the entry of premier educational institutions into the state, providing world-class education and better opportunities for the youth.

These Cabinet-approved amendments mark a significant step towards positioning Chhattisgarh as a rapidly emerging investment destination in the industrial and service sectors. The decisions are expected to boost investment inflows, generate large-scale employment, and further accelerate balanced and sustainable industrial growth across the state.
