The ashes of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh were brought to the Gurudwara at Majnu Ka Tila in Delhi on Sunday December 29 , 2024. Here, after Shabd Kirtan, Paath and Ardas, the family members of the former Prime Minister immersed his ashes in the Yamuna. Congress posted a video of the immersion on X and wrote, ‘Today the ashes of Bharat Mata’s son and former Prime Minister of the country, Dr. Manmohan Singh ji, were immersed at the Yamuna Ghat near the Gurudwara at Majnu Ka Tila with full rituals. We will all always remember Manmohan Singh ji’s service to the country, dedication and his simplicity. Respectful salutations.’

However, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa alleged that no Congress leader was present at the time of immersion of Dr. Manmohan Singh’s ashes. In a conversation with a New Channel Aaj Tak, he said, ‘It was very disappointing to see the absence of the Gandhi family and Congress leaders at the time of immersion of the sacred ashes of Dr. Manmohan Singh ji.

A leader who served the country with respect deserved much better respect from his party. This tells a lot about the priorities of the Congress and the Gandhi family.
