PM Modi, while paying tribute to Manmohan Singh, said in his condolence message that ‘Former PM Manmohan Singh’s life has been a source of inspiration for the countrymen. As an economist, he served the Government of India at different levels. He served as the Governor of the Reserve Bank. He was the Finance Minister in the government of former PM PV Narasimha Rao and laid the foundation of economic liberalization in the country. His dedication towards the people, towards the development of the country, will always be seen with great respect. Dr. Manmohan Singh’s life was a symbol of honesty, simplicity. His gentleness, intellectuality were the hallmarks of his life. I remember, when his term in the Rajya Sabha ended, I had said that his dedication as an MP is worth learning. Despite holding high positions, he never forgot his roots. He was easily available to everyone. When I was the Chief Minister, there was an open discussion with Manmohan Singh on national and international issues. Even after coming to Delhi, I used to have discussions with him from time to time, I will always remember those discussions and meetings. Today, in this difficult time, I offer my condolences to his family.
