Jammu and Kashmir: Mehbooba Mufti’s party PDP (Jammu Kashmir People’s Democratic Party) has released the list of six in-charges. Notification for the second phase of voting has been issued here and candidates can file their nominations till September 5. After this, the application will be scrutinized and candidates will have time till September 9 to withdraw their names.

Voting is to be held in three phases here. The last date for withdrawal of nomination for the first phase has expired. The first phase of voting in Jammu and Kashmir will be held on September 18. At the same time, the second phase will be held on September 25 and the third phase on October 1. The election results will be released on October 8.

The Election Commission on Saturday August 31 extended the counting of votes for the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections from October 1 to October 8, citing the centuries-old festival of the Bishnoi community. “This decision has been taken to respect the franchise and traditions of the Bishnoi community, who have maintained the centuries-old practice of celebrating Asoj Amavasya festival in memory of their guru Jambheshwar,” the commission said in a notification.

This may deprive a large number of people of the right to vote and this may reduce voter participation in the general elections of Haryana Assembly. The Election Commission changed the date of voting for the assembly elections to be held in one phase in Haryana to October 5. Earlier, voting was to be held on October 1 and now voting will be held on October 5 instead of October 1. On the other hand, if we talk about Jammu and Kashmir, then voting will be held there in 3 phases, the first phase will be on September 18, the second phase on September 25 and the third and final phase on October 1. The election results of both Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana will be declared on October 8.
