Chief Minister praised the architecture of the Ghotul

Raipur: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, during his two-day visit to Narayanpur, visited the ‘Garhbengal Ghotul’ today, demonstrating his deep commitment to the glorious traditions and folk culture of Bastar.

Amidst the melodious sounds of traditional musical instruments and the warm welcome of the villagers, Chief Minister Sai himself appeared immersed in the local culture.

Chief Minister Sai observed the unique architecture of the Ghotul and met with prominent figures of Bastar, encouraging them.

Chief Minister Sai said that the Ghotul has been an educational and cultural center for the tribal society since ancient times. This modern Ghotul, located near Chendru Park, will not only connect the new generation to their roots but will also become a powerful medium to introduce tourists from across the country and the world to the tribal lifestyle and social system.

This Ghotul of Garhbengal is a symbol of preserving our glorious heritage. Our government is continuously striving to preserve this unique culture, tradition, and knowledge of Bastar.

Chief Minister Sai inspected the Layyor and Layosk Kurma (rooms built for young men and women) and the Bidar Kurma (a collection of traditional costumes, ancient musical instruments, and cultural artifacts) within the Ghotul complex.

At the request of the villagers, Chief Minister Shri Sai tasted traditional Bastar dishes in the Saga Kurma, paying respect to the region’s culinary culture. The special meal served to the Chief Minister included Gato-Bhat, Kodo-Bhat, Urid Dal, Hiruva Dal, Jeera Bhaji, Kanki Pej, Bhaji Ghirol Phool, Chati Bhaji, Kanda Bhaji, Munga Bhaji, Imli Ambat, Madia Pej, Tomato Chutney, Chila Roti, Ragi Kurma, Ragi Cake, Ragi Laddu, and Ragi Jalebi. During this time, Forest Minister Mr. Kedar Kashyap, Revenue Minister Tankram Verma, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Federation Mr. Roopsai Salam, District Panchayat President Mr. Narayan Markam, Padma Shri Pandiram Mandavi, folk artist Butlu Ram, and senior public representative Mrs. Sandhya Pawar sat together and savored traditional Chhattisgarhi dishes.

Heartfelt Meeting with Eminent Personalities of Bastar

The Chief Minister transformed this visit from a mere formal tour into a heartfelt gathering. He met and honored the region’s great talents – Vaidyaraj Padma Shri Hemchand Manjhi, Padma Shri Pandiram Mandavi, and the renowned folk artist Butlu Ram. He also met with the family members of Tiger Boy Chendru.

Eco-Friendly Ghotul:

This Ghotul, constructed under the guidance of the Forest Department and Padma Pandiram Mandavi, is made entirely of eco-friendly materials (wood, mud, and bamboo). The Chief Minister wholeheartedly praised the intricate carvings on the Ghotul’s pillars, which were crafted by Padma Shri Pandiram Mandavi himself. The carvings effectively showcase cultural connection and the preservation of heritage.
