Mohammed Azharuddin Likely to Be Inducted into Telangana Cabinet

Azharuddin is reportedly to take oath as a minister during the upcoming swearing-in ceremony.

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin is likely to be inducted into the Telangana Cabinet on Thursday, according to party sources. Azharuddin is expected to take oath as a minister during the upcoming swearing-in ceremony. Official confirmation from the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) or the Chief Minister’s Office is awaited.

In August this year, Azharuddin was nominated to the Legislative Council as a member under the Governor’s quota in the aftermath of Supreme Court striking down earlier nominations of Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan.

The Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the revised list nominated Kodandaram and Azharuddin. With his induction, the number of Ministers in the Revanth Reddy cabinet will go up to 16.

The total strength of the Council of Ministers in Telangana is 18 including the Chief Minister.
