The Madhya Pradesh High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the controversial statement of Minister Vijay Shah and has directed to register an FIR. There was protest on social media regarding the statement. However, Shah apologized and said that his statement was presented in a distorted manner and he respects Colonel Sofia.
Minister Vijay Shah of Madhya Pradesh government is going to face more troubles. Now the MP High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the controversial statement given on Colonel Sofia Qureshi and has directed to register an FIR. However, the minister has already apologised for the matter.
What was the statement
Actually, Mohan government minister Vijay Shah had given a controversial statement about Colonel Sofia Qureshi in a program organised in Manpur. Congress has opposed this and demanded the removal of the minister from the post. In the Halma program organised in Manpur, Minister Shah, referring to the Pahalgam attack, said, the terrorists who killed people in Pahalgam, took off their clothes, those terrorists destroyed the vermilion of our sisters. Minister Shah said, PM Narendra Modi sent his sister and did this to them. When politics heated up over the statement, he said that we have replied to those who destroyed the vermilion of our sisters in their own language. His speech should not be seen in a different context. They are our sisters. He has worked with the army with full strength.
Politics heats up
After the controversial statement came to light, other political parties including Congress are on the offensive. There is even a demand for the resignation of Minister Vijay Shah. Effigies are being burnt. The demand for action against him is intensifying. Meanwhile, the BJP organisation has also expressed strong displeasure. The party high command immediately summoned him to the state headquarters in Bhopal. Shah clarified and regretted meeting the organisation general secretary Hitanand Sharma and later state president VD Sharma. Talking to the media, Vijay Shah said that he did not intend to insult anyone and if anyone is hurt by his statement, he is ready to apologise many times. He also said that his family has been associated with the military tradition.
‘Qureshi is a real sister for me’
Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah said that Colonel Sofia Qureshi is more than a real sister for me, who avenged him. I had neither any intention nor any desire to hurt anyone. If anyone felt bad with my words, I apologise from my heart. Describing his emotional reaction to his statement from the stage, he said that if his words hurt any religion or person, he apologises. Amidst the rebuke from the party and the attacks from the opposition, this statement of Minister Shah has intensified the political stir.
