Chandigarh: After the historic victory of the BJP in the Haryana assembly elections, Naib Singh Saini will take oath as the Chief Minister on October 17. The Bharatiya Janata Party, which is going to form the government for the third consecutive time in Haryana, had already indicated that Saini would be their choice for the top post after winning the elections.
Union minister and former Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said, “We have got the approval of the Prime Minister that the chief minister and council of ministers will take oath on October 17 in Panchkula.” The chief secretary has constituted a 10-member committee headed by the Panchkula district commissioner to look after the arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony.
Ahead of taking oath as the head of the new government in the state after the party’s victory in the assembly elections, Naib Singh Saini met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP leaders in Delhi on Wednesday October 9 . Later on Thursday October 10 , Saini also met Union minister and BJP’s election in-charge for Haryana Dharmendra Pradhan in the national capital.
In the assembly elections, the party registered its best ever victory with 48 seats, which was 11 more than the Congress. JJP and AAP were wiped out in the election and INLD managed to win only two seats. Not only this, eight out of 10 ministers of the outgoing Saini cabinet faced defeat in the Haryana assembly elections. The two who won were Mahipal Dhanda and Moolchand Sharma from Panipat Rural and Ballabhgarh seats respectively.
