In Short

*80 percent reduction in the number of single teacher schools

*Rationalization under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has given a new direction to the education system.

Raipur: The state of Chhattisgarh has established a new dimension by achieving a historic achievement in the field of education. Due to the efficient leadership and visionary policy of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, today no school in the state, from primary to higher secondary, is left without a teacher. The number of single teacher schools in the state has decreased by 80 percent.

This change has been possible through rationalisation, the objective of which has been the equitable use of the educational resources of the state, rational posting of teachers as per the requirement in schools in accordance with the spirit of the Right to Education Act and the New Education Policy.

It is worth mentioning that before rationalisation, 453 schools in the state were without teachers and only one teacher was posted in 5936 schools. This problem was especially more in remote and sensitive districts like Sukma, Narayanpur and Bijapur.

To remove this discrepancy, the state government started the process of counseling of teachers in three phases at the district, division and state level. As a result, today no school in the state is without teachers and the minimum required teachers have been appointed in all high schools.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the efforts to improve the educational system in schools through rationalisation and said that we had decided that now no child in Chhattisgarh will study without a teacher. Through rationalisation, we are not only following the Right to Education Act, but also laying the foundation of a strong and equitable education system. This is not just transfer, it is the restoration of justice in education.

The Chief Minister has also clarified that improving the condition of single teacher schools is among the priorities of the government and additional teachers will be sent to these schools through promotion and new appointments in the coming months.

The state government is now focusing on those 1207 primary schools where there is still one teacher. To solve this, a strategy has been made to give priority to the promotion of primary school head teachers, posting of teachers and recruitment process.

Among the single teacher primary schools in the state, there are 283 in Bastar district, 250 in Bijapur, 186 in Sukma, 124 in Mohla-Manpur-Chouki, 89 in Korba, 94 in Balrampur, 64 in Narayanpur, 37 in Dhamtari, 47 in Surajpur, 11 in Dantewada and only 22 in other districts. Teachers will soon be deployed in these schools as per the requirement.

This effort of the Chhattisgarh government is to make education inclusive and provide equal opportunity to every child to get education. This entire process has proved that rationalization is not just an administrative exercise, but it is a social justice based education reform, at the center of which every child, every village, every school.
