Raipur: The High Court has declared the rule made by the state government for promotion to the post of lecturer as unconstitutional. The division bench of the High Court has considered only teachers with B.Ed degree eligible for promotion from teacher to lecturer post. The court has asked to exclude other candidates with lower qualifications from the promotion list. Chhattisgarh High Court has said that reducing the quality of teachers is a decline in education. The case was heard in the DB of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Ravindra Agarwal.
In fact, petitioners Shravan Kumar Pradhan, Sanjay Kumar and others were appointed as Shiksha Karmi in Panchayat. In 2018, the state government merged those who completed 8 years of service and posted them as Teacher LB in the Education Department. The state government made a rule to promote Teacher LB to the post of lecturer. It said that 50 percent of the lecturer posts will be filled through direct recruitment and 50 percent of the posts will be filled through promotion on the basis of experience. A petition was filed against this.
