CM Vishnu Deo Sai calls blood donation a service to humanity; 31 people pledge body donation as Ayurveda Seva Sammelan brings health, service and social responsibility together

Raipur : More than 1,000 women came forward to donate blood in a remarkable display of public participation at the Ayurveda Seva Sammelan, Blood Donation Mahakumbh and mega health check-up camp held at Sardar Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium in Raipur on Wednesday., September 23, 2026
The single-day women’s blood donation initiative was recognised by the Golden Book of World Records. More than 3,600 women had registered for the drive, while 200 beds were arranged to facilitate blood collection.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, addressing the gathering under the ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, said blood donation was among the greatest forms of service to humanity.
“The blood donated by a person can save the life of someone in need and become a new hope for an entire family,” Sai said, appreciating the participation of women, young people and citizens from different sections of society.
Representatives of the Golden Book of World Records presented the Chief Minister with a certificate and medal marking the achievement.
From Blood Donation to Ayurveda and Body Donation
Sai said the significance of the initiative went far beyond setting a record, as every unit of donated blood could become a lifeline for a patient in need. The programme aimed to collect around 2,500 units of blood, with both women and men participating in the drive.
The event also witnessed another significant initiative under Project Dadhichi, with 31 people pledging to donate their bodies. Padma Shri awardee and Dharsiwa MLA Anuj Sharma was among those who took the pledge. According to information shared at the programme, 103 people have so far pledged body donation under the project.
Sai described body and organ donation as an inspiring form of service that could continue even after a person’s lifetime. Body donation, he said, contributes to medical education and research, while organ donation can give another person a new lease of life.
Marking National Ayurveda Day, the Chief Minister described Ayurveda as an invaluable inheritance of India’s ancient knowledge tradition. He referred to the legacy of Lord Dhanvantari and ancient scholars Charaka and Sushruta, saying their traditions of health and medicine continued to contribute to human well-being.
Sai said Ayurveda, yoga and other Indian systems of medicine had gained wider recognition under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He added that Chhattisgarh was strengthening modern healthcare while simultaneously promoting Ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, with the objective of making quality healthcare more accessible to citizens.
The Chief Minister said the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, being organised across Chhattisgarh from Prime Minister Modi’s birthday on September 17, had brought together several forms of public service. Apart from blood and body donation, books, toys and stationery were being collected for children in need.
Sai visited stalls showcasing Ayurveda and different activities under the campaign and interacted with organisers and participants.
Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said Chhattisgarh’s healthcare infrastructure was being expanded, including super-speciality services in Jagdalpur and Bilaspur and facilities through new medical colleges. He said four new yoga and naturopathy hospitals were being developed in the state.
A new 100-bed Ayurvedic hospital is also being developed opposite NIT in Raipur, while construction of a new Ayurvedic hospital building is under way in Bilaspur, according to the minister.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma, MP Brijmohan Agrawal, MLAs Sunil Soni, Anuj Sharma and Prabodh Minj, senior officials, representatives of various organisations, security personnel and a large number of citizens attended the programme.
