The video of TTP capturing a Pakistani post on the Afghan border is going viral on social media. It is being said that TTP has released this video itself. But now a senior Pakistani Army officer has clarified on this and said that this army post was evacuated shortly before the attack.
He said that the army personnel were shifted from here to another place. This process was not limited to Bajaur only but army personnel were removed from the posts in North and South Waziristan in a similar manner.
Let us tell you that in the viral video on social media, Taliban fighters can be seen celebrating with weapons at the Pakistani post. They also hoisted the flag of TTP by uprooting the flag of Pakistan from the army post.
Why is there a rift between Afghan Taliban fighters and the Pakistani army?
This dispute between the Pakistani army and Afghan fighters deepened when the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) recently killed 30 Pakistani army soldiers in the Makin area of Waziristan. In response to this, Pakistan tried to send a message by conducting an airstrike that it will not tolerate the killing of its soldiers.
The Afghan Taliban has a large amount of weapons and the ability to hide in areas in inaccessible areas. They have a huge stock of modern weapons like AK-47, mortar, rocket launcher. Apart from this, Taliban fighters attack from mountains and caves about which the Pakistani army is not even aware.
The Shahbaz Sharif government is already grappling with problems like economic crisis, delay in CPEC project and separatism in Balochistan. These issues have weakened both the government and the army. Now the confrontation with the Taliban has further increased this crisis.
How strong is the Taliban?
According to the report of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the Taliban currently has 150,000 active fighters. The Taliban has not yet publicly disclosed the defense budget for Afghanistan. After taking power in Afghanistan, the foundation of three battalions under the Special Forces and the Eight Infantry Corps was laid to formalize the army.
The Taliban’s manpower source is the tribes and their fighters settled in tribal areas. Apart from this, fanatic religious institutions and madrassas are also supporting their ideology. But the most helpful thing for the Taliban is the secret help of the Pakistani army and ISI. American intelligence assessments also clarify the ground situation, which says that within 6 months of the withdrawal of American troops, the dominance of the Afghanistan government will end and the Taliban rule may come.
