Prime Minister Modi arrived in the Maldives for a two-day state visit, welcomed by President Muizzu-Photo-PTI
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Maldives from Britain on Friday July 25, 2025 in the next leg of his two-nation visit. During the two-day visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 60th Independence Day celebrations of Maldives as the chief guest. Prime Minister Modi has arrived in Maldives on the invitation of Maldives President Dr. Mohammad Moizzu. This is the third visit of the Prime Minister to Maldives.
This visit of PM Modi to Maldives is the first visit of a foreign head of state after President Muizzu took power in Maldives. This visit is also important during the tenure of Mohammad Muizzu government because it is happening for the first time after the tension in the relations between the two countries. Prime Minister Modi’s last visit to Maldives was in June 2019.
Maldives President Mohammad Muizzu welcomed PM Modi at the airport. During this, the Defense Minister, Foreign Minister and Finance Minister of Maldives as well as the Internal Security Minister also reached the airport to receive PM Modi. PM Modi was given a grand welcome at the airport.

A person from the Indian community said that ‘PM Modi is coming here today and we are excited to welcome him. I have been living here for the last 24 years.
