Following the winter session, Speaker Om Birla, PM Modi, Priyanka Gandhi, and floor leaders and MPs from all parties were seen having tea together and discussing the proceedings of the parliamentary session.

The winter session of Parliament concluded on Wednesday December 18, 2925 , and a unique political scene unfolded in the Parliament complex after the session ended. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, along with MPs from various ruling and opposition parties, were seen together.

During this time, an informal discussion was held over tea regarding the functioning of Parliament and the proceedings of the session. Pictures and videos of the meeting have emerged, showing several prominent leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties on the same platform.

Those present at the tea discussion included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, Union Ministers Chirag Paswan, Lalan Singh, Kiren Rijiju, Arjun Ram Meghwal, NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule, Samajwadi Party MPs Rajiv Rai and Dharmendra Yadav, and DMK MP A. Raja, among other floor leaders.

According to sources, Prime Minister Modi and Priyanka Gandhi had a cordial and positive conversation regarding Wayanad. During the meeting, members requested a dedicated hall in the new Parliament building for the Prime Minister. A senior minister responded that a similar arrangement existed in the old Parliament building, but it was rarely used.

The members also informed the Prime Minister that the session had been quite productive, although it could have been extended further, as passing bills late at night is not considered ideal. It was also mentioned, in a lighthearted manner, that the session was relatively short due to the continuous protests by the opposition. To this, the Prime Minister jokingly remarked that he didn’t want to put too much strain on the opposition’s voices.

Traditionally, the Prime Minister hosts a tea party after the conclusion of a parliamentary session, inviting members of both the ruling and opposition parties. This is considered a symbol of dialogue and camaraderie in parliamentary democracy.

A tea party was also held after the conclusion of the last monsoon session, but only leaders of the ruling coalition’s constituent parties attended. Leaders of major opposition parties, including the Congress, boycotted the event at that time. The fact that leaders from all parties are now meeting for tea after the winter session is being seen as a positive sign in political circles.
