Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first vertical lift sea bridge Pamban in Rameswaram on Sunday April 6, 2025 in Tamil Nadu. He also flagged off a new train service between Rameswaram and Tambaram (Chennai). He also flagged off a coast guard ship. From here PM Modi reached the famous Ramanathaswamy temple of Rameswaram. After this, he also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated railway and road projects worth more than Rs 8,300 crore.
In Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 8300 crore and dedicated them to the nation. During this, he also addressed a huge public gathering. He said, ‘Today is the holy festival of Ram Navami, some time ago, the rays of the sun have done a grand Tilak on Ram Lalla in the grand Ram temple of Ayodhya. The life of Lord Shri Ram, the inspiration of good governance from his kingdom is a big basis for nation building.’
He said that in the last 10 years, India has doubled the size of its economy. A big reason for such fast growth is also our magnificent modern infrastructure. In the last 10 years, we have increased the budget of such infrastructure like rail, road, airport, water, port, electricity, gas pipeline by about 6 times.

‘Work is being done on big projects in the country at a very fast pace’
PM Modi said that today work is being done on big projects in the country at a very fast pace. If you look in the north, one of the world’s tallest rail bridges ‘Chenab Bridge’ has been built in Jammu and Kashmir. If you go to the west, the country’s longest sea bridge ‘Atal Setu’ has been built in Mumbai. If you go to the east, you will see Assam’s ‘Bogibeel Bridge’. If you come to the south, the construction of ‘Pamban Bridge’, one of the few vertical lift bridges in the world, has been completed.

‘Tamil Nadu has a huge role in the journey of developed India’
PM Modi said that Tamil Nadu has a huge role in the journey of developed India. I believe, the more Tamil Nadu’s strength increases, the faster India’s growth will be. In the last decade, the central government has given three times more money for the development of Tamil Nadu than in 2014. Despite this, some people have a habit of crying without reason, they keep crying.
He said that before 2014, only Rs 900 crore was received every year for the railway project. This year Tamil Nadu’s railway budget is more than Rs 6,000 crore and the Government of India is also modernizing 77 railway stations here. This includes the railway station of Rameswaram.

‘Attraction towards India increased in the world’
Prime Minister Modi said that today the attraction towards India has increased in the world, people want to know India, want to understand India. India’s culture, our soft power also has a big role in this. He said that your safety and well-being remains the top priority for the government. With the dedicated efforts of the Government of India, more than 3,700 fishermen have been successfully brought back from Sri Lanka in the last decade. It is noteworthy that more than 600 fishermen were released last year itself. Some of our fishermen also faced the death penalty. However, we took decisive steps to ensure their safe return to the country.
