Cultural activities provide opportunities to the students to express themselves, build confidence, increase capabilities to work in team and develop social skills that are essential for their overall development. Cultural activities are an important part of the education system. According to the research by the National Center for Education Statistics, participation in cultural activities enhances students’ sense of engagement and attachment to their institution and improves their performance in academics, it also helps students to explore their potential and excel themselves in various fields. Keeping in view the importance of cultural activities Pragati College Raipur, Chhattisgarh has been providing opportunity to the students to showcase their talent in cultural activities as a regular feature at its campus for last several years .

Raipur : Pragati Jazz Inter Class Competition -2024 got inaugurated in Pragati College on October 25, 2024 with making Rangoli, Diwali theme decoration, best of best poster, painting, recipe, reels, debate, music, drama, fancy dress competition , dance and music etc .

As part of the competition, a recipe competition was organised in the first session of the second day of Pragati College. The talent of the students was worth seeing. Diversity is the especially of Indian culture. In the case of competition of various dishes, the boys were also not behind the girls

Demonstrating various culinary artss, mini cakes, dhokla, potato parathas, Rajasthani ghevar, potato sandwich, cauliflower Manchurian, litti chokha from Bihar, Chhattisgarhi vaasi and chutney in a bronze vessel along with onion and rice flour made puri, bread rasmalai. Various types of sweets in the name of sweet shop. Chausela bara, thethri, khurmi are found in Chhattisgarhi cuisine. Annapurna Prasad custard bowl chaat of Chhattisgarh’s Bastar and famous Ghuska of Jaspur were made.

Exhibiting their versatility, the students displayed a unique glimpse of folk culture under the Best Out of Best competition by making water dispensers, old wooden sticks and cardboard. Shri Krishna, wall hangings, bicycles, diya stands, paguldasta fringe, dolls were made from old cardboard and old newspapers.3D animation made from old card board box using transparent paper
Pen stand made from old paper card board and water color.Lanterns and flower pots were made from old plastic bottles. A statue of Chhattisgarhi culture was made from old card board. A DJ was made from old card board and sweet boxes. The judges on this occasion were Mrs. Deepti Mishra and Mrs. Swati Jain.

During the competitions Principal of the College Dr. Saoumya Nayyar , Administrator Ms. Jyoti Thakur , HoD Commerce DR. R K Rao , HoD Computer Science Mr. Manu Rawani , HoD Education Dr. K N Gajpal , HoD Communication Dr. Praveen Kumar Yadav , faculties and students of all the departments were present .
