Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai Cabinet has approved the Chhattisgarh Logistics Policy 2025. Under this new policy, the state government will provide grant amount up to Rs 140 crore and many other concessions to promote private investment in the logistics sector.

Up to 40 percent of the cost of infrastructure like logistics hub, dry port, inland container depot, air cargo terminal and Gati-Shakti cargo terminal will be given as subsidy, with a maximum limit of Rs 140 crore. Apart from this, other concessions including 50 percent grant for external infrastructure will be given to the investors. This grant will be 35 percent for transport hub or freight station, with a maximum limit of Rs 5 crore. The aim of the state government is to develop Chhattisgarh as the leading logistics hub of the country, so that industries, traders and farmers can get affordable and modern storage facilities.

The geographical location of Chhattisgarh located in central India is suitable for logistics activities. Taking advantage of this, the state government will now attract logistics and e-commerce companies for investment. This will increase the storage capacity of the state and reduce the cost of logistics, which will accelerate trade and economic development.

Under this policy, the establishment of dry port, container depot and air cargo terminal will give local industries and producers an opportunity to reach the export market. Along with this, new avenues of export will open for forest resources, forest produce and medicinal plants. New employment opportunities will also be created for the youth.

Provision has been made for capital investment grant of 35 to 45 percent, interest subsidy of 50 to 60 percent, exemption in electricity duty and stamp duty on setting up warehouse and cold storage. Similarly, grant up to 25 lakh per acre for logistics park, 50 percent assistance for external infrastructure, 10 percent additional incentive will be given in areas like Bastar and Surguja. Provision has been made for 5 percent additional grant on adopting green logistics. Special incentives will be given for investing more than 500 crores or employing more than 1000 people.

The objective of this policy is to reduce logistics costs in the state, develop modern multimodal infrastructure, strengthen export infrastructure and increase private investment in the logistics sector. It is worth mentioning here that earlier the logistics sector used to get encouragement under the industrial policy, but now in line with the Leeds Survey of the Government of India, Chhattisgarh has entered the category of leading states of the country by making an independent logistics policy. While this new initiative of the Chhattisgarh government will give a new direction to investment, Chhattisgarh will be the leading state of the country in the field of employment, trade and export.
