Raipur: During his visit to Surajpur on Wednesday June 17 , 2026 , Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected President and councilors of the newly formed Nagar Panchayat Shivnandanpur. Congratulating Nagar Panchayat President Ritesh Jaiswal and all the newly elected public representatives, he urged them to work with a spirit of dedication towards public service and development.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai announced the construction of a well-equipped ‘Mangal Bhavan’ (community hall) in Ward No. 06 of Nagar Panchayat Shivnandanpur, offering a significant gift to the local residents. The citizens present expressed their joy and gratitude for the Chief Minister’s announcement.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai stated that granting Nagar Panchayat status to Shivnandanpur fulfills a long-standing aspiration of the region. This will pave the way for planned urban development in the area and ensure better basic amenities for the citizens. He emphasised that living up to the trust with which the public has elected their representatives is now their foremost responsibility, Sai added.
The Chief Minister called upon the newly elected representatives to work with complete sincerity and commitment to improve electricity, water supply, roads, sanitation, and other basic facilities. He stated that the state government is committed to extending the benefits of government schemes to the last person in the queue. He urged public representatives to act as a bridge between the people and the administration, playing a leading role in the effective implementation of public welfare schemes, CM remarked.

Chief Minister Sai encouraged citizens to avail themselves of the maximum benefits of government schemes and to remain aware of their rights and available facilities. He mentioned that citizens can register their complaints and issues through the Chief Minister’s Helpline and the Chief Minister’s Call Center, adding that the government is committed to the timely and effective resolution of public grievances, Sai stressed.
Addressing the gathering, Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam stated that the transformation of Shivnandanpur into a Nagar Panchayat would provide a new direction for the region’s overall development. He remarked that a new chapter of development would be written in Shivnandanpur under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. He urged the newly elected public representatives to fulfill the public’s expectations and work with utmost dedication towards the region’s development., the minister added.
Minister for Women and Child Development Lakshmi Rajwade stated that Shivnandanpur attained the status of a Nagar Panchayat due to the efforts and visionary approach of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. She described this as a historic step towards regional development, noting that citizens would benefit from improved urban amenities and development initiatives. She expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister for this achievement.
Chief Minister Inspects Departmental Stalls
Following the oath-taking ceremony, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, accompanied by cabinet members, inspected the exhibition and awareness stalls set up by various departments.
At the Social Welfare Department’s stall, tricycles were presented to two differently-abled beneficiaries, and keys to new homes were handed over to three beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
The Women and Child Development Department’s stall showcased nutritious food items prepared for children—such as khichdi, halwa, khurma, barfi, katua, gulgula, and ready-to-eat nutritional supplements. The Chief Minister inspected and appreciated the nutritional food products.
During the visit, the God-bharai (baby shower) ceremony for three pregnant women and the Annaprashan (first solid food) ceremony for two children were also conducted.
The Chief Minister interacted with women benefiting from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana to learn about the benefits they had received.
Additionally, stalls set up by the Tribal Development, Agriculture, Forest, Health, Water Resources, and School Education departments were inspected.
At the School Education Department’s stall, students from Government Higher Secondary School, Karvan, showcased various innovations and scientific models—including a solar sanitation kit—which the Chief Minister commended. Beneficiaries of various schemes receive benefits
During the event, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai distributed materials and aid to beneficiaries of various public welfare schemes. Under the Fisheries Extension Scheme—specifically the initiative to provide equipment for retail fish sales— Bharti Kevat and Tapeshwari Rajwade, both residents of Kunjnagar, were provided with ice boxes along with financial assistance of ₹6,000 each.
Under social security and health schemes, Amrut, a resident of Shivnandanpur, was issued a ‘Vay Vandan’ card. Besides , eligible beneficiaries from Shivnandanpur and Kuruwa received Ayushman cards, thereby gaining access to the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The event was attended by Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dayal Das Baghel, MP Chintamani Maharaj, Premnagar MLA Bhulan Singh Maravi, Chhattisgarh State Forest Development Corporation Chairman Ramsevak Paikra, Sarguja Divisional Commissioner Narendra Dugga, IG Deepak Jha, and Collector Rena Jameel, alongside a large number of public representatives, officials, and prominent citizens.
