Chennai : Saira Banu, wife of famous Bollywood music composer AR Rahman, has announced her separation from her husband. On Tuesday November 19 , 2024 night, she issued a statement to the press stating that she is separating from AR Rahman. The couple was married for 29 years. The couple has decided to separate after 29 years of marriage. The couple has three children – two daughters, Khatija and Rahima and a son named Amin Rahman.

AR Rahman’s wife issued a statement

In her statement, Saira Banu said that “After many years of marriage, I have taken the difficult decision to separate from my husband AR Rahman. This decision has come after a lot of emotional stress in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the stress and difficulties have created a gap between them that no one is able to bridge at this time. Saira emphasized that she has taken this decision due to pain and suffering. Saira urges privacy and understanding from the public at this difficult time, as she is going through this difficult phase of her life.”

The marriage took place in 1995

AR Rahman had said- “Honestly, I did not have time to look for a bride. I was doing films in Bombay, so I was very busy with that. But, I knew that this was the right time for me to get married. I was 29 years old and I told my mother-‘Find a bride for me. He asked his mother to find a “simple” woman “who won’t give me too much trouble so I can continue my music and hopefully she will inspire me.”
