Bangladesh : Donald Trump has won a historic victory in the US Presidential Election and has become the President again. With his becoming the President, the situation in Bangladesh politics is also changing rapidly. Sheikh Hasina’s party Awami League has started creating an environment in her support. Awami League has started making Sheikh Hasina the Prime Minister of Bangladesh again.
Meanwhile, the interim government of Bangladesh has called the Awami League a “fascist” party and has demanded a ban on it. Earlier, the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus had banned the student union wing of the Awami League.
Three months after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled Bangladesh, her party Awami League has called for a massive protest rally in Dhaka on Sunday November 10 , 2024 . In fact, facing increasing attacks on Awami League leaders and workers since the student uprising in August, the former ruling party is trying to regroup and stand on its feet with most of its top leadership in jail or in exile. In this sequence, the party has called for a protest march in Dhaka on Sunday November 10, 2024 .
Meanwhile, the interim government said in a statement issued by Awami League on Saturday November 2024 ., “Our protest is against the conspiracy to snatch the rights of the people of the country, the rise of fundamentalist forces and to disrupt the lives of common people. We urge all of you to join the Awami League leaders and workers in protesting against the misrule of this current regime.
Recently, the interim government had banned the Awami League’s student wing ‘Student League’. The interim government, led by Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus, issued a gazette and banned the organization under the provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2009. The gazette said that the Bangladesh Student League has been found to be involved in activities that pose a threat to public security. These activities include serious criminal activities such as murder, torture, harassment on college campuses, seat trading in student dormitories, tender manipulation, rape, and sexual harassment.
Sheikh Hasina is close to Trump
Let us inform you you that Sheikh Hasina is said to be a close leader of Trump. Awami League has always been close to the Republican Party of America. As a result of this, Hasina’s party Awami League sent a congratulatory message to Trump after his victory in the presidential election. In the message, Sheikh Hasina has been described as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. At the same time, the interim government head of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus, has been close to the Democratic Party of America. As a result of this, Mohammad Yunus was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize during the Barack Obama government.
There was a coup in June
Let us also inform you that in June 2024, the protest started against the restoration of 30 percent quota for the descendants of freedom fighters by the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, overturning the government decision made in response to the 2018 Bangladesh Quota Reform Movement. Students began to feel that they would have limited opportunities on the basis of merit. This protest started as a reaction to the reinstated quota system for government jobs. Later it turned violent. After this, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina had to leave the country on August 5 , 2024 .
