Surrendered Maoists Take the Path of Progress

In Short

*32 Former Maoists from Bijapur Learn the Art of Poultry and Goat Farming

*The Government’s Innovative Rehabilitation Policy to Integrate Them into Mainstream Society is Benefiting

Raipur: 32 surrendered Maoists from Bijapur district, who left the path of Maoism and returned to mainstream society, have now taken a significant step towards development and self-employment. They have successfully completed a one-month specialised training in poultry and goat farming at the Regional Self-Employment Training Institute in Jagdalpur.

Through this training, the former Maoists not only learned scientific methods of animal husbandry but also the nuances of becoming successful entrepreneurs. During the one-month intensive training, the surrendered Maoists were provided with all the important information related to poultry and goat farming. Here they received training on selection of improved breeds, fodder management and balanced diets, vaccination, disease identification and treatment methods, along with strategies for taking advantage of government schemes, obtaining loans, and marketing their products.

A surrendered Maoist who received the training expressed his happiness, saying that life in the jungle was very difficult and desolate. The rehabilitation policy, initiated by the state Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, to integrate surrendered Maoists into mainstream society, is a groundbreaking effort. Now, by working with our own hands, we can earn a stable and respectable living for our families. This government initiative has given us immense courage.
