Raipur: The contribution of tribal heroes and great personalities to the independence movement, as well as to the reconstruction of the nation and society, is unparalleled. Martyr Gaind Singh Nayak, the pride of the Halba, Halbi, and other tribal communities, and indeed of all of India, sounded the first clarion call for the freedom movement in our country.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said this while addressing the 35th ilana Samaroh and Shakti Diwas festival organised by the All India Halba-Halbi Society at Gokul Nagar in Durg district headquarters on Saturday December 27 , 2025

On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai also inaugurated the newly constructed office of the Halba-Halbi community. Sai also announced the sanctioning of  ₹ 50 lakh for providing residential coaching facilities to young men and women of the Halba community preparing for competitive examinations at Shakti Sthal, and  ₹ 25 lakh for the construction of a boundary wall at the social building of the Kanwar community in Pulgaon, Durg. He also released the social magazine ‘Samaj’ of the Halba-Halbi community.

Chief Minister Sai further said that the freedom movement in Chhattisgarh state and across the entire country was first initiated by the heroes of the tribal community. Martyr Veer Narayan Singh, Martyr Gaind Singh Nayak, and other tribal heroes and patriots sounded the clarion call for a total of 14 revolutions against the British.

He said that former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee had first formed the Central Tribal Affairs Ministry for the upliftment and development of the tribal community. At the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a large tribal museum has been constructed in the capital Raipur to introduce the new generation to the contributions and immortal sagas of the heroes and brave sons of the tribal community, and to preserve and promote their legacy.

The Chief Minister said that in the last two years, our government has prioritised and fulfilled most of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantees. Approximately   70 lakh women in the state are benefiting from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, tendu leaf collectors are receiving remuneration at the rate of  ₹. 5500 per standard bag, and farmers are being paid  ₹. 3100 per quintal for paddy. More than 26 lakh families have been approved for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme). Naxalism is also on its last legs in the state.

Development work is progressing rapidly in more than 400 villages through the Niyad Nella Nar Yojana. The Chhattisgarh government is also continuously working towards making Chhattisgarh a developed state by 2047 and a leading state in the entire country.

The program was also addressed by MP Vijay Baghel and former minister Mahesh Gagda, and the state president of the Halba-Halbi community, Khalendra. On this occasion, the Vice Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Other Backward Classes Commission, Lalit Chandrakar, office bearers of the All India Halba-Halbi community, and a large number of people from the community were present.
