Raipur: The path has been opened for special research and investigation on the tribes residing in Bastar and Surguja region of Chhattisgarh.

Now students will be able to do high level research on the glorious tradition of the tribes of the state, their culture and their economic-social fabric.

An important MoU has been signed for this between the Guru Ghasidas Central University of the state and Tribal Research and Knowledge Center New Delhi on Wednesday August 20, 2025 . TRKC is an important institution for research work on Indian tribes in various universities and colleges. This MoU was signed by Registrar Prof. Abhay S. Randive on behalf of the university and Chhattisgarh in-charge Rajiv Sharma on behalf of TRKC.

Under this MoU, the institution will do research work on the tribes residing in Chhattisgarh for the next three years. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Alok Kumar Chakrawal, former Vice Chancellor of Saurashtra University Prof. Neelambar Dave, All India Youth Action Head of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram Vaibhav Surange along with many professors, researchers, students and dignitaries were also present.

Regarding the MoU, State Incharge of TRKC Rajiv Sharma said that TRKC is an important institution for promoting research work on tribal subjects in various universities and colleges of the country. After the MoU with Guru Ghasidas Central University Bilaspur, research on various tribes of Chhattisgarh will be accelerated.

He said that these researches will also provide important information to the common citizens about many untouched aspects of the ancient and glorious tribes of the state and their civilization and culture. These research works will also provide information to the people about the ancient social organisation of various tribes of the areas of Surguja and Bastar, their economics, good governance, rural entrepreneurship, sustainable development and innovation. Sharma said that through this, the tribal youth themselves will be able to know about their glorious past and its systems.

The university’s registrar said that after the signing of the MoU, joint research projects on tribals will start. Field-based case studies and training programs for youth, administrators, tribal stakeholders, leadership development workshops and certificate courses will also be organised.

Guidance and counseling sessions will be held for youth on social impact based startups and innovations. Awareness campaigns will also be run among the tribal class with the participation of experts and professors. Seminars, lectures, conferences, round table discussions and public dialogues based on tribals will also be organided.

He said that the results of the research work will be made available at various educational institutions through libraries, research publications and databases. This will enable more and more information about the tribal community of the state to reach the people. The tribal communities themselves will also come to know about their glorious past and in future this research work will become a means of including tribal topics in educational courses. Sharma added. .
