Tirupati Stampede: There is news of a stampede in Tirupati temple of Andhra Pradesh. This accident happened while taking tokens in Tirupati temple. According to reports, six devotees have died. Many people are injured.

A stampede-like situation occurred at the famous Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. According to media reports, the stampede occurred near the Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan ticket distribution center, in which six people died. Many people are reported to be injured. The injured have been admitted to Sri Venkateswara Ramanarayan Ruia Government Hospital. Around 4000 devotees were standing in queue for Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan tickets at various ticket centers in Tirupati since this morning. The incident occurred when devotees were allowed to queue for token distribution at Bairagi Patti Park.

One of the deceased has been identified as Mallika. Mallika’s husband said, when my wife and others were trying to get tickets for Vaikuntha Dwar Darshan, a stampede broke out, due to which they died. I have informed all my relatives. They are coming here.

TTD Chairman BR Naidu holding an emergency meeting

According to PTI, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board (TTD) Chairman BR Naidu said that ‘six people are reported to have died in the stampede.’ Naidu is currently holding an emergency meeting. He will talk to the media after the meeting. A day earlier, TTD Executive Officer J. Shyamala Rao had given information about the arrangements made for Vaikuntha Ekadashi and Vaikuntha Dwar Darshan to be held from 10 to 19 January. He had also told that providing darshan of Vaikuntha Dwar to the devotees is the top priority of TTD. Rao had said that the TTD has made arrangements for seven lakh devotees during this period. Vaikuntha Darwaza will remain open for ten days and there will be special protocols in place so that all devotees can have a safe and smooth darshan experience. On January 10, the special darshan will begin at 4.30 am, followed by general darshan at 8 am.

Chief Minister Naidu gave instructions to officials
Reacting to the incident, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that he was extremely saddened by this and he has ordered the officials to ensure proper relief measures for the injured. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said, the Chief Minister spoke to the officials over the phone regarding the treatment being given to the injured. He has instructed the top officials to go to the spot and do relief work, so that the injured can get better treatment. The Chief Minister will visit Tirupati tomorrow to meet the injured.
