Raipur : Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development, Vijay Sharma, held an important meeting with District Panchayat Presidents at his residence office on Saturday December 27. 2025 .

During the meeting, the District Panchayat Presidents presented various problems and expectations related to their respective areas to the Deputy Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum of demands including an increase in honorarium, travel allowances, housing and other allowances, adequate security arrangements, and revision of vehicle rental rates. Deputy Chief Minister Sharma listened to all the demands seriously and discussed them in detail.

On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister provided information on key developmental issues related to District Panchayats, including the Developed India Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) VB-G Ram Ji Act 2025.

He said that the role of District Panchayats is extremely important in achieving the goal of Developed India @2047.

Scientific planning of schemes, the use of modern technology, and continuous capacity building of elected representatives will bring concrete and positive changes in rural areas.

The Deputy Chief Minister informed that under the new act, rural families will now receive a guarantee of employment for up to 125 days. Special emphasis has been placed on water conservation, rural infrastructure, solar energy, and livelihood enhancement, and the active participation of weaker sections will be ensured. Timely wage payments will also be ensured through a transparent system.

He further explained that this act also includes works such as housing, drinking water, sanitation, and electrification, which will give new impetus to infrastructure development in villages. The provision for comprehensive planning by the Gram Sabha will prevent duplication of work and ensure balanced development, Sharma added.

The new act prepares the Panchayats for the future by focusing on water security, development of livelihood-related infrastructure, and protection against seasonal disasters.

A provision has also been made for state governments to issue notifications for work suspension for up to 60 days annually during the peak sowing and harvesting seasons, in the interest of farmers. Special arrangements have been made to provide quick relief during natural calamities.

During the meeting, officials provided detailed information on the District Panchayat Development Fund, Janpad Panchayat Development Fund, Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Rural Development Scheme, Mahatari Sadan construction, Shraddhanjali Yojana, Atal Digital Facilitation Center, and capacity building schemes. The district panchayat chairpersons shared their suggestions for the effective implementation of these schemes.

Information was also provided on the UPI-based tax collection system for local bodies through the Samarth Panchayat portal, the performance-based grant system, and online monitoring of assets through the Gram Sampada mobile app. Officials also briefed the representatives on the framework of the exposure visit programs organised for them.
