Ukraine: Russia’s biggest attack in three years, fired 472 drones; 12 Ukrainian soldiers killed in missile attack

Ukraine: The Ukrainian army has claimed that Russia has carried out the biggest drone attack since the war began. Russia fired 472 drones and also attacked with seven missiles. Apart from this, 12 soldiers were killed in an attack on the Ukrainian army training center.

The Ukrainian Air Force said on Sunday June 1 , 2025 that Russia has carried out the biggest drone attack since the war began last three years. According to the Air Force, Russia fired 472 drones on Ukraine. Ukrainian Air Force Communications Chief Yuri Ignat said that along with this drone attack, Russia also fired seven missiles.

12 Ukrainian soldiers killed

On the other hand, the Ukrainian army said that one of its training units was targeted in a Russian missile attack, in which 12 soldiers were killed and more than 60 were injured. The attack took place at 12.50 pm. The statement said that at the time of the attack there was no military parade or any group gathered there.

What did the Ukrainian army say in the statement

The statement said that an investigation committee has been formed, which will find out how such a large number of soldiers lost their lives in this attack. This training unit is located behind the 1,000 kilometer long active war line, but Russian spy and attack drones are capable of attacking even at such a distance. The Ukrainian army is facing a shortage of personnel and is taking steps like avoiding gathering in large groups to avoid Russian drone attacks, as Russian drones constantly search for their targets. The statement said, if it is proved that the soldiers have died or been injured due to the action or negligence of an officer, strict action will be taken against those responsible.

Russia claims to have captured a village in the northern Sumy region

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that its army has taken control of the village of Oleksivka in the northern Sumy region of Ukraine. The Ukrainian administration on Saturday issued an order for compulsory evacuation of people from 11 more areas of Sumy, as the Russian army continues to advance in the region. Ukraine’s top military chief Oleksandr Sirsky said on Saturday that the Russian army has focused its main attacks on Pokrovsk, Toretsk and Lyman in the Donetsk region as well as the Sumy border.

Ukraine will send delegation to Istanbul: Zelensky

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that his country would send its delegation to new direct peace talks with Russia in Istanbul on Monday. Zelensky gave this information in a statement on Telegram. He said that this delegation will be led by Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustam Umerov. Zelensky said, we are doing everything possible to protect our independence, our country and our people.

More than 40 Russian military planes destroyed: Ukrainian official


A Ukrainian security official told the Associated Press that Ukraine has destroyed more than 40 Russian military planes in a drone attack in the interior of Russia. The official, on condition of anonymity, said that the attack took about one and a half years to plan and execute and President Zelensky himself supervised it.
