UNICEF India to Extend Technical Support for Building a Developed Chhattisgarh

Raipur: A delegation from UNICEF India called on Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhavan on Tueswday September 9 , 2025 .

The delegation lauded the ongoing initiatives of the state government aimed at building a developed Chhattisgarh and expressed its intent to extend technical support in this direction.

Welcoming UNICEF’s cooperation, Chief Minister Sai said that UNICEF has been making significant contributions to public welfare across the world in multiple sectors. He noted that Chhattisgarh would greatly benefit from UNICEF’s technical expertise. The Chief Minister also shared the government’s priorities under the Anjor Vision 2047 document with the visiting team.

The UNICEF delegation briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of its various programmes in the state. Soledad Herrero, Chief of Field Services, UNICEF India, praised Chhattisgarh’s nutrition-related initiatives and the government’s efforts towards creating a “Developed Chhattisgarh.”

Herrero described the Mahtari Vandan Yojana as a major step towards women’s empowerment. She further informed that UNICEF is actively supporting the Hamar Swasth Laika programme in Chhattisgarh, which has been yielding highly positive outcomes. The initiative, she added, is now being replicated by states such as Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Odisha.

Chief Minister Sai appreciated UNICEF’s ongoing contributions in Chhattisgarh and held detailed discussions on expanding technical collaboration, particularly in alignment with the targets of Anjor Vision 2047. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for building a Developed India by 2047. “In line with this vision, the Government of Chhattisgarh is committed to creating a Developed Chhattisgarh. For this, we have prepared the Anjor Vision 2047 document,” he stated.

The Chief Minister underlined that under Anjor Vision 2047, upliftment of tribal communities, especially Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), remains a top priority. He said UNICEF’s support would be crucial in improving health and nutrition indicators, including reducing infant mortality and malnutrition. He also discussed the importance of empowering adolescent girls through better health and education.

The meeting was also attended by Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister, Rahul Bhagat, Secretary, Women and Child Development Department Shammi Abidi, Health Secretary Amit Kataria, UNICEF Chhattisgarh Head William Hanlon Jr., and Dr. Bal Paritosh Das.
