New Delhi: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah held a review meeting with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in New Delhi on Monday 21, 2025 on the implementation of three new criminal laws in the state. The implementation and current status of various new provisions related to police, jails, courts, prosecution and forensics were reviewed in the meeting. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Union Home Secretary, Chief Secretary, Chhattisgarh, Director General, BPR&D, Director General of Police, Chhattisgarh and Director, NCRB, including senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Chhattisgarh Government.

In his address, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that there is a need to make the full implementation of the three new criminal laws brought under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Chhattisgarh a top priority agenda and work in this direction. He said that the aim of the three new criminal laws is to improve the Indian judicial process and a state like Chhattisgarh needs it more. Shah said that Chhattisgarh should take the complete implementation of the three new criminal laws as a challenge and implement them soon and become an ideal state.

Union Home Minister said that the Chhattisgarh government should fix the accountability of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) level officers for filing charge sheets within 60 and 90 days. He said that in the new laws, the process from recording of evidence to the entire trial is possible through video conferencing, which will save a lot of manpower.

The Union Home Minister said that every police station and DSP level officers in Chhattisgarh should make it a habit to use I National Intellegence Grid( NATGRID) in cases of serious crime. He said that the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of the state should review the progress of implementation of new criminal laws in the state once a week, the Home Minister of the state every 15 days and the Chief Minister once a month, Amit Shah added .
