New initiatives in education, infrastructure and student support reaffirm Chhattisgarh’s commitment to building a knowledge-driven future
Raipur: Placing education at the centre of Chhattisgarh’s long-term development strategy, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday July 20, 2026 said that building an educated, skilled and value-driven generation is the state’s greatest responsibility. Addressing the State-Level School Admission Festival (Shala Praveshotsav) at Swami Atmanand Government Excellence English Medium School in Jamgaon (M), Patan block of Durg district, he emphasized that quality education is the strongest foundation for a developed Chhattisgarh.
The Chief Minister welcomed newly admitted students by applying tilak and offering sweets, describing their dreams and aspirations as the true strength of the state’s future. He encouraged children to study with dedication, think beyond limitations and contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.
During the programme, free textbooks, school uniforms and school bags were distributed to selected students of Classes I, VI and IX. Bicycles were also handed over to girl students of Class IX to encourage uninterrupted education and improve access to higher studies.

Recognising academic excellence, the Chief Minister felicitated students who performed exceptionally well in the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Examination 2025-26. Congratulating the achievers, he said talent exists everywhere and flourishes when supported with the right opportunities and guidance.
Highlighting the state’s education reforms, Shri Sai said the government is moving beyond conventional classroom learning by integrating smart classrooms, timely distribution of learning materials, improved nutrition, regular parent-teacher interaction, community participation through Nyota Bhoj, and activities rooted in Indian culture and values. These initiatives, he said, are designed to ensure the holistic development of every child.
He also pointed to recent administrative reforms in school education, stating that rationalisation of teaching staff has ensured that no government school in the state remains without teachers. The government is also expanding educational infrastructure in remote and tribal regions, including the development of education hubs in areas such as Jagargunda in Bastar to provide students with facilities comparable to those in urban centres.
The Chief Minister noted that Chhattisgarh currently has 15 medical colleges, 24 Nalanda campuses, and a 200-seat hostel in Delhi for students pursuing higher education, reflecting the state’s growing focus on academic opportunities beyond school educatio
Four Major Announcements for Durgn.
In a significant push for educational and sports infrastructure, the Chief Minister announced four major projects for Durg district:
- Construction of a modern composite office building for the Joint Director, District Education Officer and Block Education Officer.
- Establishment of a fully equipped modern auditorium.
- Development of a football ground with an athletics track to promote sporting talent.
- Construction of separate 100-seat hostels for boys and girls preparing for competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE.
These initiatives aim to create an enabling ecosystem for academic excellence as well as sports development.
During his visit, Shri Sai also toured the school’s astronomy laboratory and appreciated the space science models prepared by students. He remarked that scientific thinking and innovation will define the future of India and stressed the importance of nurturing curiosity and technological awareness from an early age.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by School Education Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav, also planted saplings under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, reinforcing the message of environmental responsibility. Later, he shared a meal with schoolchildren during the Nyota Bhoj, interacting with them about their studies, interests and future aspirations.
Education Minister Highlights Ongoing Reforms
School Education Minister Shri Gajendra Yadav said the government is steadily expanding computer education across schools, constructing more than 8,000 new toilets for girl students, and implementing focused programmes to strengthen language and mathematics skills. He added that the government’s objective is to ensure that every student receives textbooks and uniforms on the very first day of the academic session, matching the standards of leading private institutions.
The programme was attended by public representatives, senior government officials, education administrators, parents and a large number of students, reflecting the state’s continued emphasis on education as a key pillar of inclusive development.
