Iran had struck a deal with Russia for the 4.5th generation fighter jet Su-35, but now it is showing interest in China’s 4.5th generation J-10C. Pakistan also has the same J-10C.
Iran Fighter Jets Deal: During the conflict with Israel, Russia openly supported Iran and strongly condemned the Israeli attack as well as the American airstrikes on nuclear sites. Iran is now planning to cheat the same Russia for China. Iran had made a deal with Russia for the 4.5th generation fighter jet Su-35, but now it is planning to buy China’s 4.5th generation J-10C. Pakistan Air Force also has the same fighter jet.
Iran is in dire need of updated fighter jets at this time. Recently, it also faced Israeli attack, which uses excellent fighter jets like F-16 and F-35, while Iran’s Air Force is still dependent on old fighter jets like F-4 Phantom and MiG-29. Many of these are more than 50 years old. That is why Iran wants to get 4.5th generation fighter jets as soon as possible.
Why does Iran want to buy J-10 instead of Su-35?
According to the Defense Security Asia website, Iran wanted to buy the Russian Su-35 and had also made a deal for it, but after the delay in its delivery, Iran is now turning towards China’s J-10C. Iran’s military officials believe that Israel can attack Iran at any time, so we should have updated fighter jets as soon as possible.
Which fighter jet is better among J-10C and Su-35?
Although both the Chinese J-10C and Russian Su-35 are updated fighter jets, but the J-10C is a medium-weight, single-engine jet, while the Su-35 is a heavy and twin-engine aircraft. If we talk about radar, the J-10C has AESA radar, which is better than the radar of Su-35. While the J-10C has PL-10 and PL-15 missiles, the Su-35 is equipped with Russia’s dangerous R-74 and R-77-1 missiles. Apart from this, the most special thing about the Su-35 is that it has a higher payload capacity and much better engine power than the J-10C.
The J-10C is compared to the American F-16
The J-10C was inducted into the Chinese PLA fleet in 2006. By 2025, China has about 220 J-10C fighter jets. This fighter jet is often compared to the US F-16 fighter jet. If Iran formally signs a deal for the J-10C, it will be a big change for the defense market and will prove to be a big setback for Russia.
