I request the world to consider this Yoga Day as the beginning of Yoga 2.0 for humanity, where inner peace becomes a global policy. Recalling India’s initiative at the United Nations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled India’s initiative to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day at the United Nations in 2014. He said that I remember when India proposed in the United Nations that June 21 be celebrated as International Yoga Day. In a very short time, 175 countries came forward to support this initiative. Such unity and tremendous global support was truly extraordinary. It was not just about agreeing on a proposal, it was a collective step taken for the betterment of humanity. It reflects a shared vision for a healthier, more aware world. Today we can see that yoga has become an integral part of the lives of many people across the world.
