Lucknow : On getting information about the matter, Congress state president Ajay Rai reached the civil hospital. The worker had come from Gorakhpur to join the protest.
A Congress worker died in the demonstration held on Wednesday to gherao the UP Vidhan Sabha. The worker Prabhat Pandey had come to Lucknow to join the demonstration. His body was taken to the Civil Hospital. Where Congress State President Ajay Rai also reached after some time.
At the same time, Congress leaders who were preparing to march to Lucknow to gherao the Vidhan Sabha were stopped in different districts of the state on Wednesday December 18 , 2024 and senior leaders were put under house arrest. The Congressmen who reached the party office in Lucknow were arrested by the police and left in the Eco Garden. At the same time, the police also arrested the leaders who tried to reach the Vidhan Bhavan. State Congress President Ajay Rai, who was going to gherao, was arrested by the police. He fainted for some time during the scuffle. After returning from the demonstration, Ajay Rai reached the Civil Hospital.
Congress leaders were put under house arrest
Earlier on Wednesday December 18 , 2024 morning, as soon as Congress leaders started reaching Lucknow, they were being put under house arrest in districts to stop them and barricading has been done at various places. RAF (Rapid Action Force) personnel were deployed outside the Congress office in Lucknow. Preparations were started to arrest the leaders present outside the Congress office.
In a morning statement , Congress state president Ajay Rai said that sharp barricading has been done to stop our workers. These ‘spears’ will cause serious injury to our workers. This is happening for the first time. This government wants to kill our workers. Our workers are being stopped at Ghazipur border but we will enter the assembly even after all this. Meanwhile, the police have sent notices to more than two dozen senior leaders including state president Ajay Rai.
