Russia fired more than 170 missiles and drones at Ukraine’s power grid on Christmas Day. One person died in this attack and there was a massive blackout. Zelensky has described the attack as ‘inhuman’.

Allied countries should send more air help
Ukraine’s DTEK Energy Company said that the equipment of thermal power plants was badly damaged in the attack. DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko urged the allied countries to send more air defense, saying, ‘To deprive millions of people celebrating Christmas of light and warmth is a wicked and evil act, which must be answered.’
After receiving information about the power cut from the regional authorities, engineers are busy repairing the system. The head of Ivano-Frankivsk region Svitlana Onishchuk said, ‘Christmas morning once again showed that nothing is sacred for the attacking country.’
Russia also targeted Kharkiv
Dnepropetrovsk Governor Sergei Lysak said Russia was ‘trying to destroy the region’s power system.’ Russia also targeted Kharkiv. City Governor Oleg Sinegubov said authorities had evacuated 46 people from the Borievske and Kupiansk areas
The target of Moscow’s army is to recapture the city of Kupiansk, which was captured in the first year of the war. Ukraine recaptured it in September 2022. Its army retook control of a large part of the Kharkiv region.
